Buckwheat hot cereal with applesauce

by Kimberly
(Edison, NJ)

I make Buckwheat hot cereal (bought from Wegmans) just boil water and put it in like making oatmeal.

I have never liked oatmeal because of the texture, and sadly the buckwheat cereal has a similar texture. But I find when I mix it with applesauce it makes a new better texture. It is easier to eat because I find the applesauce breaks up the clumpiness of the cereal.

You can add cinnamon if you desire.

Kimberly, what a wonderful idea! I like to make a "porridge" from millet flakes for my breakfast and I am going to try your suggestion with those also.

I may substitute freshly grated nutmeg, rather than the cinnamon, as I love the smell (and taste) of nutmeg. I almost have no sense of smell, but when I grate a nutmeg I am able to smell that and it's heavenly!

I live in Rochester NY, home of Wegmans Food Markets..I am thrilled to know that other gluten free folks have found them to be an excellent alternative to high priced "Heath Food" stores.....
