Missing vitamins
by: Don Tombs

Once on a strict gluten free diet, your body starts to re-absorb, the goodness and the vitamins, from your digested food.

But unfortunately most Celiacs have lost Calcium and other vitamin levels are low, so they normally need a B12 injection around every 6 to 10 weeks, together with Calcium support.

These injections and tablets will probably be required for life.

Consequences of Being Gluten Free
by: Nancy Lapid

Hi,

People with celiac disease who eat gluten can develop some life threatening problems, so for them, the advantages of the gluten free diet outweigh the disadvantages.

The same is true for people with serious gluten intolerance. But there ARE side effects of a gluten-free diet.

The most important one is vitamin deficiencies (because most gluten free products are not enriched with extra vitamins the way "regular" products are). More is explained in Side Effects of the Gluten-Free Diet.

To be gluten free, or not, that is the question
by: Don Tombs

We are based in Crawley, West Sussex, UK and have around 70+ members, we only started 2 years ago, many of our members are not fully diagnosed or registered Celiacs, thet have allergies to gluten, or are IBS sufferers, but all have benefited from a strict gluten free diet.

My wife could barely get around before going on a GF Diet, now she has re-started teaching Tap Dancing and is loving it.

Take a look at our freely developed and freely run web site www.glutenfree-crawley.org.uk, it has now been opened by 83 different countries around the world, so we hope many people can benefit from our experiences and our free GF Recipes.
