Celiac in the family

by Jeremiah
(Jacksonville, Fl, UD)

I just found out that my sister and her kids have celiac disease.

The genes are present in my family, and I have been suffering from the symptoms for 7 years, being misdiagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome.

I take imodium every day to keep from going to the bathroom so much, and cannot afford to go to the Dr. I make to much for medicare, but not enough to afford my own insurance plan, and work does not offer insurance.

I need to know what I can eat, because I am tired of feeling sick all the time. I can not keep this up much longer.

I was diagnosed similarly - told it was IBS before finding out what was really wrong.

Look for Amy's frozen products and soups (lots of gluten free foods), Vans waffles are great, Good Karma ice cream is good. Gluten free rice, corn products, potato products, quinoa, tapioca, all fruits, nuts, and vegtables are guten free. Yoplait fat free yogurt is gluten free. Silk milk is as well. Just read labels and try all things that say gluten free.

Hope this helps!
