Discovery g/f foods for my 11 year old son,

by julia lord

We have just discovered that our son has to be on a G/f diet, So I need to read heaps, also prepare food with this in mind.

We have been making meals for three weeks, free from gluten. So far, my son tells me that there is no change with his tummy. I'm just wondering how long it will take until he feels much better?

Also, he is very tall, and very slim. Is there any food that he will thrive on, as he's so slim? To me I really do think he needs to gain weight. Not the weight that will make him over weight, I'm being practical here.

If there is one to help, I would be ever so grateful.

Julia

Hi,
I have been GF for 3 years now and before i was very slim as well due to the malnourishment. It was also very hard to find gluten free food that I enjoyed at first. However now it is so easy and i enjoy almost everything I eat. I make chocolate chip pancakes every morning with the Pamelas mix. Those may add some weight. Also I would have him eat a lot of meat. I hope this helps.

Food Help

Hi,

I've been on a GF diet for a few years. It could take anywhere from a month to a couple months depending on the damage. Meat will put weight on him obviously. Look for gluten free cake, brownie, and cookie mixes - they are wonderful and have put some weight on me. If your son likes peanutbutter than buy some Smuckers all natural chunky peanutbutter - I eat it almost every morning. For a great breakfast Vans blueberry waffles are so good - especially with the peanutbutter.

I hope this has helped!
