A gluten free diet book for you

the essential gluten free guide book A good gluten free diet book is invaluable when you are first diagnosed with celiac. You are entering into a new way of life, one that will make you healthy and happy, but one that can seem frightening and difficult to begin with.

When I was first diagnosed as a baby (Read my story here) all my mother was given were two sheets of paper: a forbidden foods list and a list of the foods I was allowed to eat. A gluten free diet book was unheard of back then.

Your first step when you find out that you, or someone you care for, has an intolerance to gluten, is to try to find out as much information as possible about the condition. This is much easier nowadays with the internet and the disease generally being more well known.

Although information is easy to find on websites such as this one, sometimes you want to have everything together in one place. You may be looking for recipes that you can try. One solution is an ebook. You can print it out completely or just the section or recipe that you want. Then it doesn't matter if you spill food on the page whilst cooking!

In my searches around the world wide web I found and bought The Essential Gluten Free Guide ebook.

About the ebook

Ignoring the spelling mistake in the first paragraph (we all make them) I read the book from cover to cover and found that, even after more than 45 years on a gluten free diet, there was fresh information in there that made me say "Of course, why didn't I think of that?"

Peter Tremayne, the author, covers the disease itself in depth, over the first 6 chapters. Then he has tips for shopping and ingredients.

I was impressed with the chapter for Children. I wish my mother had read this book when I was younger!

Extensive tips for eating out at restaurants are included along with a handy restaurant card to show to waiters and chefs to ensure a safe gluten free meal.

Peter has devised a handy Action Plan to help newly diagnosed celiac's accept what fate (or their genes) has thrown at them and gives step by step guides to help you deal with the situation.

All in all I found it a useful book and very suitable for a newbie. Along with the book Peter is currently offering a whole raft of free extras including a gluten free recipe book containing over 300 pages! Not to be missed.
