Gluten Free equaled Weight GAIN

I used to be a bigger girl when I was younger but lost it all after high school. After 6 years of maintaining my 115lb weight, I went gluten-free (due to stomach pain).

I did not eat significantly more than I had eaten before, but I constantly felt like I was starving. I tried to stick with veggies and things like that. At the same time I dropped gluten, I began to go to the gym.

Now, after six weeks of gluten free, I'm a full inch or more larger than I was (which equals approx. 5lbs). And it is NOT muscle. Trust me.

My new pants are tight now. Everything is tight. I quit. I worked to hard to lose weight and keep it off for some stupid diet (in which I'm eating HEALTHIER than before...) to come along and ruin it. Did I mention, I don't eat cookies or cakes very ofen?

Gluten and Weight?

Yes - It's quite normal to gain weight after not eating gluten. I gained a stone over a year once I gave up gluten - as I could eat food again without being constantly ill!. However - giving up does make people feel like they are losing weight because gluten makes people feel bloated. Losing the bloated feeling makes people feel much healthier. (And often hungier!) For sensitive people it also allows the body to absorb nutrients better once they are eating GF.
I hope this helps the confusion some people are under with gluten.
