Gluten free liquers

by emac
(California)

I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease.

I have read the diet and I am trying to conform. What I cannot find is a cocktail that I can drink.

I do not drink beer or wine. All liqueurs seem to be made from grains. I have tried to find the ingredients in rum, its seems to be made from
sugar?????

Thank you if you can help.

Vodka is gluten free

All distilled liquers are gluten free, regardless of what they are made from. This includes vodka.

It differs from person to person. Some people have no reaction to grain-based alcohol. However, many, including myself, do. Rum, distilled from molasses, and tequila, distilled from agave, are fine. Chopin and Ciroq are two of the only vodkas that are easy to find (in the U.S. at least). Chopin is distilled from potatoes (and as an added bonus is considered one of the best vodkas on the market). Ciroq is distilled from grapes. Ciroq is pretty good, Chopin is great! So those are the liquors.

As far as liqueurs go, very few contain alcohol that is not grain-based. I'd recommend either drinking cocktails that are made with juices, or looking up individual liqueurs, which can be a pain.
