How much gluten do the common grains have

We've been doing research, and would like to limit our gluten intake. How much gluten is in various grains? Everything that I have seen is only absent/present.

Carol replies...

If you have an intolerance to gluten then you would need to remove ALL gluten containing products from your diet. A product is either gluten free or it isn't. Its a bit like being pregnant, you either are or you aren't.

The common grains, wheat, barley and rye all contain gluten and should be avoided completely if you need to follow a gluten free diet.

However, it is best not to restrict your diet until you have been checked out by a doctor and diagnosed with a gluten intolerance or celiac disease. If you stop eating normally, and then go in for tests, you can get incorrect results,

I hope this helps.
