Will going gluten free help my diabetes

by Jane
(Florida)

I am reading this web page because I have suffered with Type II Diabetes for a very long time. It seems like nothing I do works.

I have tried to do things naturally, I have used insulin, oral and injected. I have major complications that stem from the Diabetes. And I just don't know what or how to get this under control. I refuse to use insulin again because the side effects of the drug is worse than the disease itself as far as I am concerned.

My Doctor recently convinced me to take Metformin and I hate everyday that I put it in my mouth. The side effects have not been fun at all. But the numbers state that I am at a high risk of heart disease or even stroke.

My Mother sent me a book the other day called, "Diabetes without Drugs" written by Suzy Cohen, RPh. I read the book in two days because it made more sense than any of the numerous books I have read.

The main factor was that many people who suffer from Diabetes could be suffering because of a gluten sensitivity. I have never given this any consideration before but find this very interesting.

I have to say that I get very disturbed when I think that I have to change
what I eat once again. I love veggies and fruit although fruit is very low on my list, only because it causes high blood glucose numbers.

I need help! I need to know how to accomplish this kind of change without going crazy.

Are there any suggestions on how you all got started. I do not want to suffer with Diabetes anymore. If going gluten free is the answer then so be it.
